Resources created by Katie Krummeck and Gray Garmon and adapted by The Principal Impact Collaborative. We know there is uncertainty of what’s to come as it relates to the state of our public schools. And while we are all navigating the unpredictability of what’s around the corner, we also know there is an opportunity to think creatively about solutions we can implement to ensure student success.
But where do we begin? Design experts Katie Krummeck and Gray Garmon recommend getting to know the constraints of those you are serving whether that be your students, your staff, your team or families. This will allow you to design solutions with your specific stakeholders needs in mind. After you have an understanding of the constraints your stakeholders are facing, determine your objectives and goals you hope to achieve and consider what the learning experiences might look like in this new environment. We encourage you to boldly lean into the ambiguity and consider designing a new prototype. This process can support generating new ideas or iterating on previously tested solutions. And lastly, whether through an observation or journey mapping, be sure to reflect as you go, as we know every experience has the opportunity to be improved the during the next iteration.
