Dionna Matlock
Associate Director
Dionna is the Associate Director of Program Operations for PIC, overseeing operations for the Principal Fellowship program and leading the Alumni Council to foster engagement among PIC alumni. Prior to joining PIC, Dionna served as the Founding Dean of Operations - an integral member of the school leadership team at Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy (BELA) overseeing the start-up and ongoing operations at the school.
After pursuing her dream of moving to NYC, Dionna began a career in fashion starting as a marketing and communications admin assistant for MaxMara, and later moving on to work in store operations and communications for Ashley Stewart. In 2014, she transitioned into the realm of education when she took the position of Director of Family Engagement at a middle school in Brownsville, NY. It was during this time she witnessed the detrimental effects of burnout educators often faced when juggling the day-to-day responsibilities of running a school, while managing their own personal lives.
Dionna is an advocate of mental health and well-being in the workplace. She plans to use her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage principals to incorporate wellness in their daily routines. She is also excited to be working with the PIC team and is looking forward to expanding her experience around coaching and human-centered design thinking.
In her free time, Dionna enjoys baking, taking road trips, learning new DIY home organization and design tips, working on new fitness challenges and spending time with her family. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from LIM College in New York City, NY. She is currently pursuing a CAPM certification in Project Management.
