Frequently Asked Questions
who is eligible to apply?
All applicants must currently be in the principalship at the time of application and throughout the duration of the two year program. PIC currently serves North Texas area principals.
WHAT DOES PIC LOOK FOR IN THEIR APPLICANTS?
Ideal candidates are:
- Committed to actions that influence educational equity
- Interested in the principalship long term
- Committed to personal and professional growth
- Does well with ambiguity and willing to fail forward
- Ready to take action to make change
- Eager to collaborate and share feedback with peers
how many participants are in each cohort?
Each year, PIC actively recruits between 25-35 leaders per Cohort across multiple districts and networks.
Is there a financial commitment to participate?
Yes, each participant must secure sponsorship with their district or network and approval from their supervisor to join the Cohort.
what are the program commitments?
All program participants must commit to fulfilling the program commitments prior to the Cohort start:
- Attend Summer Institute (~3 full days) in June
- Attend Monthly Sessions
- 1.5 days per month from August to April
- Typically full day Thursday and half day Friday
- 1.5 days per month from August to April
- Complete pre-session work (Average 1-3 hours per session)
- Participate in monthly coaching calls (60-90 minute 1x1 coaching call or group check-in)
- Design and implement a Design Thinking Action Project
- Participate in end-of-program Leadership Collaboration event to publicly share learnings from project
- Provide data for program impact analysis
- Participate in personal and campus surveys, and share campus data for program evaluation
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOR THE IN-PERSON INTERVIEW DAY?
The in-person interview is an opportunity for the PIC team and evaluators to learn more about your interest and fit for the program. The structure is typically a half day (morning or afternoon), where you'll have an opportunity to meet other applicants and current or alumni participants of the program.
