Name: Claudia Vega Role: Director of Leadership Development When did you join the team: Fall 2021 What about leadership development and supporting principals resonates with you most? The principalship is a unique and extraordinary role. It’s important to provide a meaningful and supportive network for our school leaders, so that they can continue to thrive. What is something you have learned or taken away from PIC’s sessions and core content areas? The necessity to create safe spaces to learn and explore new ideas is just as important for adults as it is for children. What has been the most impactful to the way you lead / in your work? Staying focused on the people and communities that we serve has always been my compass in leadership. How would you define equity for public education? Equity in public education means that all schools, students and educators have the resources needed to access and excel in teaching in learning. Systemic and institutional barriers are dismantled and bridges are created. What three words would your community, family or friends use to describe you? Passionate, sincere and innovative. What energizes you outside of work? Reading and spending time in nature helps me to reset and refuel. What is your favorite DFW restaurant? Cibo Divino What educator influenced or inspired you and why? My parents were Dallas educators and their love and passion for community and public schools inspired me to stay local and lead within classrooms and schools. What is your favorite hobby? Working in the yard and creating small herb gardens and flowers beds brings me joy. What is your favorite song? Dobie Gray’s Drift Away fills my soul every time I listen. |
