OUR PROGRAM HISTORY
The Principal Impact Collaborative (PIC) was founded in 2016 through a collaboration among North Texas education leaders with a common goal: improve public school outcomes, particularly in the highest-need schools, by addressing high rates of principal turnover across Dallas-Fort Worth. Through this effort, PIC was formed with a mission to develop bold, equity-driven, and resilient education leaders who strengthen our public schools.
After a successful pilot within Uplift Education, PIC became part of the University of North Texas at Dallas in 2019, sharing a belief that education empowers students, transforms lives, and strengthens communities.

WHY WE STARTED
The Principal Impact Collaborative at UNT Dallas is an innovative leadership development organization for North Texas area public school principals and education leaders. PIC fills an unmet need by intentionally supporting and empowering experienced leaders in historically under-served and under-resourced schools.
While PIC was piloted in 2016 at Uplift Education through a collaboration of school districts and community partners, we re-launched PIC at UNT Dallas in February 2019.

HOW WE WORK
Through a rigorous curriculum that integrates design thinking, well-being, and transformative leadership, PIC equips educational leaders with the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate urban schools, drive change, and ultimately persist in their roles longer term.
In 2020, PIC expanded from serving only experienced principals (2+ years) to investing in multi-level organizational leadership, including experienced principals, new principals, principal supervisors, and other central office district leaders.
